Democracy by Assassination

This president has assured us that Democracy will prevail in Iraq and that the war was justified. We now have a better idea of what that "democracy' will look like.

If Iyad Allawi, Iraq's new prime minister, is Mr. Bush's reason that nearly 1,000 of our young men and women have died, then it should be easier for you to understand why this war has been a disaster in so many ways.

The Herald reported that two independent witnesses alleged Dr Allawi executed up to six suspected insurgents at the Al-Amiriyah police station in Baghdad only days before Washington handed control of the country to him and his interim government.

According to the accounts, which were denied by Dr Allawi's office, there were about a dozen police officers and a contingent of Americans who witnessed the killings.

That's right - Allawi is apparently a part time assassin. But don't let that bother you. Democracy is coming to Iraq.
